
The Summer Youth Initiative is a special grantmaking
program of the Fremont Area Community Foundation which awards grants of
up to $8,000 to provide summer programs for Newaygo County young people.
Organizations
applying for a Summer Youth Initiative grant must....
- Be designated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization
or utilize a 501(c)3 organization as a fiscal sponsor
- Conduct programs to benefit Newaygo County
residents
- Be experienced youth program providers
- Have oversight of the program by personnel
with appropriate credentials
- Have appropriate youth/staff ratio
- Provide a positive and safe environment
- Provide nutritious snack/meal if time warrants
- Not discriminate on the basis of race, sex,
or religious preference
- Include a plan for evaluation with clearly stated goals and objectives
- Partner with colleagues and collaborate with
other organizations when possible to avoid duplication of services and overlapping of projects
Priority
will be given to Summer Youth Initiative programs that....
- Involve a minimum of ten youth
- Last for a minimum of one week
- Provide education and recreation
- Be open and accessible to all interested youth
- Enhance participants' self-esteem
- Challenge participants' creativity
- Involve participants in some physical
exercise and teach healthy lifestyle
FACF
will not fund....
- T-shirts
- Vacation Bible Schools
- Camps whose purpose is primarily athletics
- Traditional or mandated summer school
Grant

15 each year.
