The Fremont Area Community Foundation is a local nonprofit organization serving the residents of Newaygo County. We connect the needs of the community with those who have the conviction to make a lasting impact. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for the people of Newaygo County. We fulfill this through five primary means:

• Leadership: identifying and addressing community needs
• Donors: helping people accomplish their charitable giving goals
• Endowment: building permanent community capital
• Grantmaking: supporting nonprofit organizations serving our community
• Philanthropy: encouraging the spirit of giving and volunteering

Grantmaking Strategies

Within our broad purpose, the Foundation focuses its grant support on arts and culture, community development, education, the environment, and community health. We closely monitor community issues, opportunities, and resources in these areas and work with the community, nonprofit groups, and individuals addressing them. We are guided in our grantmaking by the principals listed below.

Our grantmaking principals:

• Build on prior investments
• Respond to community and identify priorities
• Focus resources and increase impact
• Remain consistent with our mission, values, and capacities

While the Foundation remains flexible in trying to address the needs of the community, we do not consider funding for projects that have previously been denied, grants to individuals (except scholarships), programs that advocate specific religions, or services which are government or school obligations.
